Choosing the right NDIS provider makes a big difference to how well your plan works for you. Whether you are new to the NDIS or thinking about changing providers, these eight questions will help you compare NDIS providers in Orange, NSW.

1. Are you a registered NDIS provider?

Registered providers have met the requirements of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. If your plan is NDIA-managed (agency-managed), you must use registered providers. Plan-managed and self-managed participants can choose registered or unregistered providers.

2. Which services do you offer?

Check the provider offers the supports in your plan – for example Supported Independent Living, respite, personal care, community participation or community nursing.

3. Are you local to Orange?

A local provider knows the Orange community, can respond quickly and can help you connect with local activities, services and groups.

4. How will you plan support around my goals?

Good providers start by listening. Ask how they will learn about your goals, routines and preferences, and how they will review your support over time.

5. How do you match and keep support workers?

Consistent support workers help you build trust. Ask how workers are matched to you and what happens when someone is away.

6. What will my service agreement include?

A service agreement should clearly set out the supports, prices (in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements), cancellation terms and how either party can end the agreement.

7. How do you handle feedback and complaints?

You should be able to give feedback easily, and know that you can also contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission if you are not satisfied.

8. How do I get started, and how long will it take?

Ask what the first steps are, whether you can meet the team first and when support could begin.

Can I change NDIS providers?

Yes. NDIS participants have choice and control and can change providers. Check the notice period in your current service agreement, then talk to your new provider and support coordinator about a smooth handover.
